Description

Funginazol vial (Fluconazole) : the first of a new subclass of synthetic triazole antifungal agents.

Composition

Each one mL of Funginazol contains :

  • Fluconazole: 2 mg.
  • Sodium chloride: 9 mg.
  • Excipients: S.Q. for 1 mL.

Indications

Funginazol (Fluconazole) is an antifungal drug; it inhibits fungal cytochrome P450 dependent enzymes, resulting in blocked ergosterol synthesis.
Funginazol is used in the treatment of vaginal candidiasis, oropharyngeal and esophageal candidiasis, dermal candidal infections, systemic candidal infections, acute cryptococcal meningitis, prophylactic in patients undergoing bone marrow transplantation.

Dosage & Administration

Adults
  • Single dose of (150) mg for vaginal candidiasis.
  • Multiple dose (tablets – suspension – intravenous):

Oropharyngeal candidiasis:

(200) mg on the first day, following by (100) mg once daily for at least (2) weeks.

Systemic candida infections:

(400) mg daily.

Esophageal candidiasis:

(200) mg on the first day, followed by (100) mg daily for (3) weeks at minimum.

Cryptococcal meningitis:

(400) mg on the first day, followed by (200) mg daily. The treatment for initial therapy is (10-12) weeks after the cerebrospinal fluid becomes culture negative.

Cryptococcal meningitis in patients with AIDS:

(200) mg once daily.

Prophylaxis:

in patients undergoing bone marrow transplantation is (400) mg once daily.

Pediatric

Oropharyngeal candidiasis:

6 mg / kg on the first day, followed by 3 mg / kg once daily for at least (2) weeks.

Esophageal candidiasis:

6 mg / kg on the first day, followed by 3 mg / kg once daily.

Doses up to 12 mg / kg / day may be used based on medical judgment of patients response to therapy.

Systemic candida infections:

(6-12)mg / kg / day.

Cryptococcal meningitis:

12 mg / kg on the first day, followed by 6 mg / kg once daily. Duration of treatment for initial therapy is (10-12) weeks after cerebrospinal fluid becomes culture negative.

Administration

Fluconazole injection has been used safely for up to fourteen days of intravenous therapy (infusion), the maximum dose is 200mg/hour by intravenous infusion.
