LINCOMYCIN OUBARI 600 mg is a lincosamide antibiotic, it is a sterile solution for intramuscular injection and intravenous infusion.

Each LINCOMYCIN OUBARI 600 mg ampoule contains: Lincomycin as HCl 600 mg / 2 ml.

LINCOMYCIN OUBARI is indicated in the treatment of serious infections due to susceptible strains of streptococci, pneumococci, and staphylococci. Its use should be reserved for penicillin-allergic patients or other patients for whom, in the judgment of the physician, a penicillin is inappropriate.

LINCOMYCIN OUBARI may be administered concomitantly with other antimicrobial agents when indicated.

Pregnancy& breast-feeding

Pregnancy: there are no adequate and well-controlled studies in pregnant women. LINCOMYCIN OUBARI should be used during pregnancy only if clearly needed. (Pregnancy category: C).

Breast-feeding: a decision should be made whether to discontinue nursing, or to discontinue the drug, taking into account the importance of the drug to the mother.

Adults (Intramuscular injection):

Serious infections: 600 mg intramuscularly every 24 hours.

More severe infections: 600 mg intramuscularly every 12 hours or more often.

Pediatric patients over 1 month of age (Intramuscular injection):

Serious infections: one intramuscular injection of 10 mg / kg every 24 hours.

More severe infections: one intramuscular injection of 10 mg / kg every 12 hours or more often.

Adults (Intravenous injection):

Serious infections: 600 mg – 1 gram every 8 to 12 hours.

More severe infections: doses may have to be increased.

In life-threatening situations: daily intravenous doses of as much as 8 grams have been given.

Pediatric patients over 1 month of age (Intravenous injection):

10 mg / kg / day depending on the severity of infection may be infused in divided doses as described above for adults.

Method of intravenous injection:

Intravenous doses are given on the basis of 1 gram of lincomycin diluted in not less than 100 mL of appropriate solution and infused over a period of not less than one hour.

The dose: 600 mg, diluted in 100 ml and infused over 1 hour.

The dose: 1 g, diluted in 100 ml and infused over 1 hour.

The dose: 2 g, diluted in 200 ml and infused over 2 hours.

The dose: 3 g, diluted in 300 ml and infused over 3 hours.

The dose: 4 g, diluted in 400 ml and infused over 4 hours.

These doses may be repeated as often as required to the limit of the maximum recommended daily dose of 8 grams of lincomycin.

Subconjunctival injection:

0.25 mL (75 mg) injected subconjunctivally will result in ocular fluid concentrations of antibacterial (lasting for at least 5 hours) sufficient for most susceptible pathogens.
