ACEPIME 1000 mg contains Cefepime which is used to treat a variety of bacterial infections. This medication belongs to a class of drugs called 4th generation of Cephalosporines. It works by stopping the making of bacterial wall. This antibiotic treats only bacterial infections. It will not work for virus infections (such as common cold, flu). Using any antibiotic when it is not needed can cause it to not work for future infections.

Each vial of ACEPIME 1000 mg contains 1000 mg Cefepime (1106 mg Cefepime HCl monohydrate).

Adults:

Pneumonia (Moderate to Severe):

ACEPIME 1000 mg is indicated for the treatment of moderate to severe pneumonia caused by Streptococcus pneumoniae (including cases associated with concurrent bacteremia), Pseudomonas aeruginosa, Klebsiella pneumoniae, or Enterobacter species.

Complicated Intra-abdominal Infections

ACEPIME 1000 mg is prescribed for the treatment of complicated intra-abdominal infections (used in combination with metronidazole) caused by Escherichia coli, viridans group streptococci, Pseudomonas aeruginosa, Klebsiella pneumoniae, Enterobacter species, or Bacteroides fragilis.

Uncomplicated Skin and Skin Structure Infections:

ACEPIME 1000 mg is effective for the treatment of uncomplicated skin and skin structure infections caused by Staphylococcus aureus (methicillin-susceptible isolates only) or Streptococcus pyogenes.

Uncomplicated and Complicated Urinary Tract Infections (including Pyelonephritis):

ACEPIME 1000 mg is used for the treatment of uncomplicated and complicated urinary tract infections (including pyelonephritis) caused by Escherichia coli, Klebsiella pneumoniae, or Proteus mirabilis.

Empiric Therapy for Febrile Neutropenic Patients:

ACEPIME 1000 mg can be used in patients with Neutropenic fever (neutrophils).

Children:

ACEPIME 1000 mg is considered safe for use in children (over two months of age), particularly in life-threatening bacterial infections (under medical supervision).

Uncomplicated and Complicated Urinary Tract Infections (including Pyelonephritis)

Uncomplicated Skin and Skin Structure Infections

Pregnancy& breast-feeding

If you are pregnant or breast-feeding, think you may be pregnant or are planning to have a baby, ask your doctor or pharmacist for advice before using ACEPIME 1000 mg.

Pregnancy Category: B.

ACEPIME 1000 mg should not be used whilst breastfeeding because of small amount of the contents of ACEPIME 1000 mg appear in breast milk.

Adults:

Pneumonia (Moderate to Severe):

The recommended dose of ACEPIME 1000 mg is between 1 - 2 vials, administered intravenously every 8 - 12 hours, for up to 10 days.

Complicated Intra-abdominal Infections:

The recommended dose of ACEPIME 1000 mg is 2 vials (2000 mg), administered intravenously every 8 - 12 hours, for 7 - 10 days.

Uncomplicated Skin and Skin Structure Infections:

The recommended dose of ACEPIME 1000 mg is 2 vials (2000 mg), administered intravenously every 12 hours, for up to 10 days.

Complicated and Uncomplicated Urinary Tract Infections:

The recommended dose of ACEPIME 1000 mg is between ½ - 1 vial, administered intramuscularly or intravenously every 12 hours, for 7 - 10 days.

Empiric Therapy for Febrile Neutropenic Patients:

The recommended dose of ACEPIME 1000 mg is 2 vials (2000 mg), administered intravenously every 8 hours, for up to 7 days.

Children (Less than 40 kg of weight):

Pneumonia, Uncomplicated Skin and Skin Structure Infections, Complicated and Uncomplicated Urinary Tract Infections:

The recommended dose is 50 mg/kg of body weight, administered every 12 hours, for up to 10 days.

In more severe cases, the dosing interval should be reduced to 8 hours.

Moderate to Severe Pneumonia caused by Pseudomonas aeruginosa, Bacterial Meningitis, and Febrile Neutropenic Patients:

The recommended dose is 50 mg/kg of body weight, administered every 8 hours, for 7 - 10 days.

Children (more than 40 kg of weight):

For children weighing more than 40 kg, the adult dosing regimen is recommended.
