AMIKACIN OUBARI 100 mg is an antibiotic of aminoglycosides group, it is considered an ideal option for treating severe bacterial infections caused by Gram-negative bacteria, particularly strains resistant to other antimicrobial agents, and some Gram-positive bacteria.
AMIKACIN OUBARI 100 mg is characterized by its strong efficacy and broad-spectrum activity.
AMIKACIN OUBARI 100 mg ampoules are prepared for intramuscular injection and intravenous infusion.
Each 2 mL of AMIKACIN OUBARI 100 mg ampoule contains 100 mg Amikacin sulfate.
AMIKACIN OUBARI 100 mg is used to treat bacterial infections that cause:
Respiratory and pulmonary infections
Urinary and genital tract infections
Gastrointestinal infections
Skin and soft tissue infections
Burns and post-surgical infections
Endocarditis (inflammation of the inner lining of the heart)
AMIKACIN OUBARI 100 mg may also be used to treat patients with a low white blood cell count (neutropenia) who develop fever due to bacterial infections.
AMIKACIN OUBARI 100 mg is effective in treating bacterially-induced septicemia, including neonatal sepsis. In certain severe cases, additional treatment with penicillin-type drugs may be required due to the possibility of infections caused by Gram-positive organisms, such as streptococci or pneumococci.
Children:
AMIKACIN OUBARI 100 mg can be used safely to treat severe infections children, including infants less than 4 weeks old.
Pregnancy& breast-feeding
If you are pregnant or breast-feeding, think you may be pregnant or are planning to have a baby, ask your doctor or pharmacist for advice before taking AMIKACIN OUBARI 100 mg.
AMIKACIN OUBARI 100 mg cross the placenta and there have been several reports of total irreversible, bilateral congenital deafness in children whose mothers’ received Aminoglycosides during pregnancy.

AMIKACIN OUBARI 100 mg should not be used whilst breastfeeding because of small amounts AMIKACIN OUBARI 100 mg appear in breast milk.
Children, older infants and newborns:
The recommended dose of AMIKACIN OUBARI 100 mg for children and older infants with normal renal function is 15 mg/kg/day divided into 2 or 3 equal doses administered at equally-divided intervals, i.e., 7.5 mg/kg every 12 hours or 5 mg/kg every 8 hours.
The recommended dose of AMIKACIN OUBARI 100 mg for neonates is 10 mg/kg initially, followed by 7.5 mg/kg every 12 hours.
Treatment of patients in the heavier weight classes should not exceed 1.5 gram/day.
The usual duration of treatment with AMIKACIN OUBARI 100 mg is 7 to 10 days.
