Flagyl - Pro 500 mg, a medication that belongs to the nitro-imidazole class (Anti-Infectives). It is primarily used to treat infections caused by micro-organisms affecting the gastrointestinal system, the genitourinary system, and the skin.

Flagyl-Pro is available in several pharmaceutical forms, including intravenous infusion vials and F.C tablets.

Each F.C tablets of Flagyl - Pro 500 mg contains 500 mg Metronidazole.

Flagyl - Pro 500 mg F.C tablets are indicated for the treatment of symptomatic and asymptomatic Trichomonas vaginalis (T. vaginalis) infections.

Flagyl - Pro 500 mg F.C tablets are indicated for the treatment of amoebic liver abscess and acute amoebic dysentery caused by Entamoeba histolytica (E. histolytica).

Flagyl - Pro 500 mg F.C tablets are indicated for the treatment of gastrointestinal disorders caused by Giardia lamblia (G. lamblia).

Flagyl - Pro 500 mg F.C tablets are effective in treating serious infections caused by susceptible anaerobic bacteria.

Flagyl - Pro 500 mg F.C tablets may be used for the treatment of the following infections:

Lower respiratory tract infections

Skin and skin structure infections

Bone infections

Gynecological infections

Intra-abdominal infections

Endocarditis

To reduce bacterial resistance to drugs, Flagyl - Pro 500 mg F.C tablets may be used.

Children:

The efficacy of Flagyl - Pro 500 mg F.C tablets has not been established in children under 2 years of age.

Pregnancy& breast-feeding

If you are pregnant or breast-feeding, think you may be pregnant or are planning to have a baby, ask your doctor or pharmacist for advice before taking Flagyl - Pro 500 mg F.C tablets.

Flagyl - Pro 500 mg may be used during the second and third trimesters of pregnancy to treat bacterial infections affecting the vagina and infections caused by Trichomonas vaginalis (T. vaginalis).

Pregnancy Category: B.

Flagyl - Pro 500 mg F.C tablets should not be used whilst breastfeeding because of small amount of the contents of Flagyl - Pro 500 mg F.C tablets appear in breast milk.

Adults:

treatment of symptomatic and asymptomatic Trichomonas vaginalis (T. vaginalis) infections:

One-day treatment: The recommended dose of Flagyl - Pro 500 mg is 4 F.C tablets (2000 mg), given either as a single dose or in tow divided doses daily (1000 mg per dose).

7-day course of treatment: The recommended dose of Flagyl - Pro 500 mg is one F.C tablet daily, for 7 consecutive days.

Treatment of infections caused by Entamoeba histolytica (E. histolytica):

Amebic liver abscess: The recommended dose of Flagyl - Pro 500 mg is one F.C tablet, taken 3-4 times daily, for 5-10 days.

acute intestinal amebiasis (acute amebic dysentery): The recommended dose of Flagyl - Pro 500 mg is one F.C tablet, taken 3-4 times daily.

Treatment of infections caused by Giardia lamblia (G. lamblia): The recommended dose of Flagyl - Pro 500 mg ranges from 1-2 F.C tablets daily.

Treatment of anaerobic bacterial infections:

In the treatment of most serious anaerobic infections, intravenous metronidazole is usually administered initially.

The recommended dose of Flagyl - Pro 500 mg is 7.5 mg/kg every 6 hours, for 7-10 days.

The maximum daily dose of Flagyl - Pro 500 mg should not exceed 8 F.C tablets (4000 mg).

Children:

Treatment of infections caused by Entamoeba histolytica (E. histolytica): The recommended dose of Flagyl - Pro 500 mg ranges from 35-50 mg/kg daily, divided into 3 doses, for 10 days.

Treatment of infections caused by Giardia lamblia (G. lamblia):

2-5 years: 250 mg daily

5-10 years: 375 mg daily

10-15 years: 500 mg daily

Treatment of anaerobic bacterial infections:

The recommended dose of Flagyl - Pro 500 mg ranges from 20 to 30 mg/kg daily.
