TANOX 1.5 mg belongs to a group of medicines called benzodiazepines, primarily used for the treatment of anxiety and stress-related disorders.

TANOX 1.5 mg works by enhancing the effect of Gamma Amino Butyric Acid (GABA) in the brain, which helps reduce excessive electrical activity and leads to a feeling of relaxation and calmness.

Each F.C tablet of TANOX 1.5 mg contains 1.5 mg Bromazepam.

Adults:

Emotional disturbances:

Anxiety and tension states, anxious, depressive mood, nervous tension, agitation and insomnia.

Anxiety and tension related:

Functional disturbances of the cardiovascular and the respiratory systems such as pseudoangina pectoris, pericardial anxiety, tachycardia, emotiogenic hypertension, dyspnea and hyperventilation.

Functional disturbances of the gastrointestinal tract, including irritable bowel syndrome, ulcerative colitis, epigastric pain, spasm, bloating and diarrhea.

Functional disturbances of genito-urinary tract, for instance irritable bladder, urinary frequency and dysmenorrheas.

Other psychosomatic disturbances such as psychogenic headache and psychogenic dermatitis.

Children:

TANOX 1.5 mg is not indicated for use in children under 12 years of age.

Pregnancy& breast-feeding

If you are pregnant or breast-feeding, think you may be pregnant or are planning to have a baby, ask your doctor or pharmacist for advice before taking TANOX 1.5 mg.

TANOX 1.5 mg crosses the placenta and may cause decreased muscle tone, breathing difficulties and sudden drop in body temperature in the newborn infant.

Newborn infants born to mothers that have taken TANOX 1.5 mg throughout pregnancy may be at risk of developing withdrawal symptoms.

Pregnancy Category: C.

TANOX 1.5 mg should not be used whilst breastfeeding because of certain amounts TANOX 1.5 mg appear in breast milk.

The recommended dose of TANOX 1.5 mg for therapy is 1.5 - 3 mg up to three times daily.

The recommended dose of TANOX 1.5 mg in case of Severe cases, especially in hospital is 6 - 12 mg two or three times daily.

You will be started on a low dose of TANOX 1.5 mg. Your doctor will slowly increase it until you are taking the right dose for you.

Your doctor will give you the lowest possible dose that works for you and check your treatment regularly to prevent an overdose caused by a build-up of TANOX 1.5 mg in your body.

After several weeks, but no longer than three months, according to progress in therapy. An attempt should be made to withdraw treatment.
