Each 1 mL of OPHTADEX contains Dexamethasone sodium phosphate equivalent to 1 mg (0.1%) Dexamethasone phosphate.
OPHTADEX is indicated in some cases of inflammation in the eye such as:
The inflammation of the cornea (including superficial punctate keratitis and disciform keratitis, provided the corneal surface is intact)
The inflammation of conjunctiva (including allergic conjunctivitis and vernal conjunctivitis)
The inflammation of iris and anterior uvea (including iritis and iridocyclitis).
The inflammation of connective tissue (including scleritis and episcleritis)
OPHTADEX is used in hypersensitive reaction of the conjunctiva, which does not respond to standard treatments.
Children:
When using OPHTADEX for long-term treatment in children, a break should be taken between treatment periods.
Pregnancy& breast-feeding
If you are pregnant or breast-feeding, think you may be pregnant or are planning to have a baby, ask your doctor or pharmacist for advice before taking OPHTADEX.
There are no adequate or well-controlled studies in pregnant women.
OPHTADEX should not be used during pregnancy unless the expected benefit justifies the potential risk to the fetus.
The lowest effective dose and shortest duration of treatment should be considered.

Short-term use of OPHTADEX does not affect nursing infants.
The recommended dose of OPHTADEX is 1 drop, 4 to 6 times a day in the eye to be treated.
If the condition is more serious, you may be start with 1 drop every hour and then change to 1 drop every 4 hours.
After the medicine has started to work It is important to lower the dose slowly to stop the condition getting worse again.
