 Cefadroxil Oubari contains Cefadroxil which is used to treat a variety of bacterial infections. This medication belongs to a class of drugs called First generation of Cephalosporines. It works by stopping the making of bacterial wall. This antibiotic treat only bacterial infections. It will not work for virus infections (such as common cold, flu). Using any antibiotic when it is not needed can cause it to not work for future infections.

Cefadroxil Oubari is available in powder form to be prepared as an oral suspension for easier administration, especially for children.

Each 5 ml of Cefadroxil Oubari bottle contains 250 mg cefadroxil monohydrate.

Cefadroxil Oubari is used to treat patients with infections caused by susceptible strains of microorganisms in the following cases:

Urinary tract infections caused by Escherichia coli, Proteus, and various Klebsiella species.

Skin and skin structure infections in addition to Impetigo caused by strains of Staphylococcus or Streptococcus bacteria.

Pharyngitis or tonsillitis caused by Streptococcus pyogenes (group A beta-hemolytic streptococci).

The efficacy of Cefadroxil Oubari in preventing rheumatic fever has not been established.

Pregnancy& breast-feeding

If you are pregnant or breast-feeding, think you may be pregnant or are planning to have a baby, ask your doctor or pharmacist for advice before taking Cefadroxil Oubari.

Pregnancy Category: B.

Cefadroxil Oubari should not be used whilst breastfeeding because of certain amounts Cefadroxil Oubari appear in breast milk.

CEFADROXIL OUBARI may be administered orally without regard to meals, administration with food may be helpful in diminishing potential gastrointestinal complaints occasionally associated with oral cephalosporin therapy.

The daily dosage of Cefadroxil Oubari Oral Suspension according to the child’s weight:

Impetigo: 30 mg/kg PO q24h or divided q12h, maximum 2grams per day.

Pharyngitis/tonsillitis: 30 mg/kg PO q24h or divided q12h x 10 days, maximum 2grams per day.

Skin/skin structure infection: 30 mg/kg/day PO divided q12h, maximum 2grams per day.

Urinary tract infection: 30 mg/kg/day PO divided q12h, maximum 2grams per day

Culture and sensitivity tests should be performed before and during treatment.

Kidney function tests are recommended as needed.
